The fast fashion industry, characterised by the rapid and inexpensive production of trendy garments, has become one of the most environmentally damaging sectors globally. The relentless pursuit of lower costs has led to the use of toxic fabric dyes, exploitation of cheap labour, and the creation of billions of disposable garments that end up in landfills each year. While ethical fashion alternatives exist, their higher price points mean they are accessible only to those who can afford designer brands. To address this, governments should impose stricter regulations on textile waste and encourage sustainable production practices across the industry.
